What am I doing wrong and who do you want me to help today?
Everyday I bring this question to God.
Everyday He’s faithful to answer it.
I ask Him to send me people I can help, and turn away those I cannot.
Most days He’s whispering the answer, so I have to shut out the noise of life to hear it.
I call it my “spiritual noise canceling headphones.”
Putting them on, blocks the voices that tell me “you’re not good enough.”
“The conflicts you see with others, are failures you created.”
The successes of others tickle my ears with vanity.
“Do more, go faster, make it bigger, it’s their fault not yours!”
“I’m too busy, I can’t deal with that right now.”
“You can always apologize for mistreating people, remember? It’s easy to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission!”
“You’re not ghosting them, you’re protecting their feelings!”
“It is what it is.”
“If I could do something about it, I would.”
“If I tell more people, I would lose my business.”
Lies all lies.
Spinning around me like a tornado through my mind.
Shutting them off, is hard.
Sharing them with the world, is even harder.
We know what it means when we expose ourselves to pain.
That’s why we hide from it.
The fear of cultural cancelation.
It’s why most of us see likes on our success posts, and silent nights on our difficult posts.
It’s why most of us today, avoid conflict because of the lies we’ve fallen into.
The lies we tell each other.
And the lies we tell ourselves.
But we were NOT built for fear.
365 times a year tell yourself: “Do. Not. FEAR.”
One time a day, say out loud “I was not built for fear!”
In fear, you cannot support anyone but yourself.
In fear, you judge with your tongue before your heart checks your mind.
In fear, you’re blinded to the pain of others as you struggle to gain control of your own.
In fear, you run to the world, instead of running to the word of God.
In fear, you lean on vanity, success metrics, accolades and personal gains.
Run, don’t walk to your Bible today.
I Have Overcome the World
25 “I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; 27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.[a] 28 I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”
29 His disciples said, “Ah, now you are speaking plainly and not using figurative speech! 30 Now we know that you know all things and do not need anyone to question you; this is why we believe that you came from God.” 31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. 33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
As we love, so shall we be loved.
And that means putting away our fears and pain, so we can support each our as God intended.
That, is true fellowship.
Stay frosty.
